Résumé/Présentation "Much scholarship has been produced in recent years regarding the literary, testimonial, and cinematic representations of Rwanda during and after the genocide against the Tutsi. However, little has been written regarding the emergent genre of transmedia and digital production representing Rwanda. This paper examines what has been described as Rwanda's first ever transmedia project, Jacqueline Kalimunda's Célib Rwandais [Single Rwandan]. It examines the ability of transmedia production to connect with African and Rwandan audiences through a case study of Kalimunda's project, including its promotion and reception across social media and crowdfunding sites. The Single Rwandan project, which is currently incomplete, reveals the difficulty of funding transmedia and engaging African users. The promotion of the project across social media can nonetheless be analyzed as a coherent narrative in itself (one that highlights material obstacles to reframing the continent's “single stories”), using the methodological tools of the nascent field of transmedia studies."
