Résumé/Présentation "[...] In this chapter, I wish to address the misunderstandings that surround the African book trade and that contribute to its exclusion from major trends in international literature: the conception of African publishing as a unique market that is under threat and requires protection, or, conversely, as an industry with its own niche within the international market, rather than as a fully established member of the world literature corpus. These misperceptions linger even though literature that has long been categorized as “African” consistently interrogates hegemonic and classificatory modes of conceptualizing “African literature,” and despite, moreover, the marked rise of World Literature and of interest in new paradigms through which to better apprehend global realities"
